Privacy Policy

In short: ThreadTrim works entirely inside your browser. It never reads or sends your emails. If you never buy a paid plan, it makes no network requests at all. If you do, it only checks your licence with threadtrim.com.au. No analytics, no tracking, nothing sold or shared.

What ThreadTrim does

ThreadTrim is a Chrome extension for Gmail, and optionally Outlook on the web. When you reply to an email, it removes older quoted emails from your reply draft, so the message you send is shorter.

What it accesses

  • Your reply draft. To trim it, ThreadTrim reads and edits the content of the reply box on mail.google.com, and on Outlook on the web (outlook.office.com, outlook.office365.com, outlook.live.com) only if you turn that on in the ThreadTrim popup. This happens on your device only, in the moment you open a reply. The content is never stored, logged, or sent anywhere.
  • Your account’s email address and name, as Gmail or Outlook shows them on the page, so your email can be filled in for you if you buy a paid plan. They stay on your device unless you start a checkout.
  • Nothing else. It does not read your inbox, contacts, calendar, or any other website.

What it stores

  • Your settings (on/off, how much to trim, whether to show the “Trimmed” bar), saved with Chrome’s built-in extension storage. If you use Chrome sync, Chrome syncs these settings between your own devices.
  • Your monthly usage (how many replies you have trimmed this month, for the free plan’s monthly limit) and the date you started using ThreadTrim, saved with Chrome’s extension storage and synced by Chrome between your own devices if you use Chrome sync. This month’s count is also copied into Gmail’s or Outlook’s own site storage in your browser, so reinstalling ThreadTrim doesn’t reset the free limit.
  • Two counters (number of replies trimmed and total size removed), saved on your device only.
  • Your account’s email address and name, saved on your device only.
  • If you buy a paid plan: your licence (key, plan, status and renewal date) and a random installation ID, saved with Chrome’s extension storage and synced by Chrome between your own devices if you use Chrome sync.

No email content, recipients, or subjects are stored.

What it sends

Nothing, unless you buy or use a paid plan. Free users who never start a checkout cause no network requests at all. ThreadTrim uses no analytics or tracking and includes no third-party code.

If you choose a paid plan, ThreadTrim opens Stripe’s checkout page in a new tab, with a random installation ID and your account’s email address filled in. Stripe processes the payment; your card details never pass through ThreadTrim or EUX Digital. See Stripe’s privacy policy.

To unlock your plan and keep it active, ThreadTrim sends your licence key and installation ID to threadtrim.com.au (run by EUX Digital): every 30 seconds while a checkout is open (for up to 15 minutes), then about once a day. The reply only says whether your plan is active. The thank-you page on threadtrim.com.au can also hand your licence key to the extension after you pay. “Manage subscription” asks threadtrim.com.au for a link to Stripe’s billing page.

For a purchase, EUX Digital keeps your email address, plan, licence key and Stripe customer reference, to provide the plan, send your licence key, handle refunds and meet tax and accounting obligations.

Sharing and selling

ThreadTrim does not sell, transfer, or share user data with anyone, and does not use it for advertising, credit decisions, or any purpose unrelated to trimming your replies and providing the paid plan. Payments are processed by Stripe.

Removing your data

Uninstalling the extension deletes all of its data: your settings, counters and licence. Chrome removes it from your device and from Chrome sync. The copy of this month’s trim count stays in Gmail’s or Outlook’s site storage in your browser until you clear that site’s data in Chrome. If you bought a plan, email us to delete your purchase record, apart from what we must keep for tax and accounting. If you joined the earlier waitlist, email us and we will remove your address.

This website

threadtrim.com.au uses Independent Analytics to count page views. It runs on this website’s own server, does not use cookies and does not share data with anyone. There is no advertising or third-party tracking. WordPress sets cookies only for people who log in to manage the site. Our host, Kinsta, keeps standard server logs (such as IP address and pages requested) for security and performance. Links to the Chrome Web Store take you to Google’s service, which has its own privacy policy.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date. If a future version ever needs to handle data differently, it will ask for your permission first.
